About Lost Objects from the Subsurface

Lost Objects from the Subsurface is an interactive media installation that encourages the viewer to traverse the boundaries of consciousness. Walls of a gallery display an oceanic videospace littered with commonly lost objects. The installation becomes alive as the presence of the viewer causes shifts in perspective from an ocean horizon, through underwater murk, and finally into the depths of a cave. Within the cave await audiovisual keys to help facilitate a process of self-reflection and discovery. To experience the levels of the videospace, the observer must maintain a certain level of stillness as determined by a sensor network trained with machine learning models. The various states of the installation are additionally defused with an atmospheric soundscape of sub-harmonic frequencies, electronic pulses and rhythmic patterns.
